Winter Pamper Evening November 06, 2017 21:09 1 Comment

Hello Branch Tribe,

With this chilly winter weather outside we've been loving getting curled up under a warm blanket and lighting some relaxing candles after a days work!

Our little shop is full of items that can help make the perfect cozy evening and we'd like to share with you how we like to use a few of them.

When we get home from work the first thing on our mind is having some warm food and drinks.  Katie loves starting the kettle and grabbing her favourite Tearrific tea to make.  We carry over 10 amazing varieties at the store to chose from.

Not a tea drinker? No worries, we love the Calgary Heritage Roasting Co coffee for a nice evening beverage too. Add some whiskey or rum to warm things up even more!

If your like us and don't do caffeine after 2 ... we carry the best decaf beans you've ever had.

Once our drinks are ready its time to start on the food. One of our fave things to add to any recipe are the delicious Chimmi's sauces!  Heres a comforting meatloaf recipe using Chimmi's hot sauce and ketchup.

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
1 cup bread crumbs (or any combination of ground flaxseed, wheat bran, or wheat germ)
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Chimmi's Hot Sauz
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

For the glaze:
1/2 cup Chimmi's ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2.  In a large mixing bowl, knead together the ground beef, onion, bread crumbs, water, worcestershire sauce, Chimmi's, salt, basil, oregano, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
3. Shape the meat into a loaf and put it on a 4-sided baking sheet or 9×13 pan.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
5. Mix up the glaze in a small bowl by whisking together the Chimmi's ketchup, brown sugar and worcestershire sauce. Brush it over the hot meatloaf.
6. Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees and bake an additional 15 minutes.
Serve with mashed potatoes and a crisp green salad and ENJOY the flavour!

After we've gobbled up our amazing meal it's time to relax! We love lighting Natura Soyalight candles as there made of clean burning soy wax and are scented with pure essential oils, we carry over 10 beautiful blends.

With the candles flickering we curl up under a blanket to catch up with family & friends, watch TV or play games.  We love using the cozy blankets we carry from Heart Print Threads!

What would be a pamper night without a nice warm bath complete with bath bombs and sugar scrubs?? Of course, we have to light a couple more candles to get the space as relaxing as possible. We love picking our favourite scents ... loving the Lavender Dream or Eucalyptus Mist for creating that spa-like vibe.

Dim the lights, sink in the bathtub and relax. This time to think, read, meditate or watch a show (We're gonna be Captain Obvious for a moment ... make sure to keep your electronics safe distance from the water :)

We feel, after a relaxing bath is the best time to moisturize and then time put on some pretty pjs and a pair of comfy socks (Friday Socks of course) and tuck up into bed for some reading and a good nights rest.

And that's how we do it!

We hope this gives you some ideas on how you can get cozy this winter with some of the products we carry at Branch.

Tell us!  What's something you must have to feel cozy? Let us know in our comments!
